
Revitalizing a Sacred Practice
Co-curator of the exhibition Ho’okāhi ka ‘Ilau Like Ana, Andre Perez will present a lecture on the revitalization of Hawaiian sacred practice using a “kinship methodology.” He will screen two videos about the journey to preserve Hawaiian carving practices for the lāhui. Lecture and screenings to be held in La‘akea 304/305.
Kūpā‘aike‘e Hawaiian Carving Revitalization is critical to our theory of change for our lāhui Hawai‘i. Cultural revitalization is part of kūkulu: building the bridge to carry forward the knowledge and practices of our ancestors to our future generations.
