Early College is a partnership between Windward Community College and High School students to provide an accelerated learning experience. This exhibit highlights an Early College ART 113 drawing class at Castle high School.

This class meets the same academic course level of the University of Hawaii drawing standards for college credit, taught throughout the community colleges, the University of Hawaii, and con-currently offered at Windward Community College.

WCC Instructor Calvin Collins taught students the foundation of the class, then they were paired with Castle HS Art Instructor and ART 113 class success coach, Casilda Rippard. Several of the artwork selected is from current students enrolled in Early College this year, taught by Jacob Jackson.

Through this WCC Early College collaboration, high school students may earn six or more college credits giving them the opportunity to earn both an associate’s degree and a high school diploma by their high school graduation. This remarkable Windward Community College program offers many courses of different academic disciplines presented in a variety of high schools throughout the state.
